In 2014 we hosted the Shower of Stoles Project in our art gallery, and inspired our confirmation class to add a stole to the collection. This stole, made out of duct tape, represents the voice and energy of our young people who have grown up within the spirit of welcoming, embracing and celebrating differences in God’s people. May the work of their hands and openness of hearts inspire us all.
In 2008, after a number of years of conversation, study, reflection and prayer, the CUCC voted to become Open and Affirming and adopted the following welcoming statement:
Striving to increase our love for God and neighbor, we welcome persons of every age, health condition, race, marital status, economic status, sexual orientation and religious background. We encourage you to become an active member of our church, sharing your God-given gifts in all areas of church life: worship, education, mission, and ministry.
