A recounting the history of our LGBTQIA movement within Christian Churches cannot ignore the influence of the political arena. Participants share stories of interactions between Church and State as they have shaped our lives, our protests, our setbacks, and our successes. We also name the dynamic between secular and religious LGBT activists that has been a source of much tension and struggle over the years. These historical reflections may shed light on our current political climate and encourage faithful strategies to keep us moving forward.
