Dear Mrs. Martin
I very greatly appreciate your gracious letter of October 10, and
your kindness in sending me a copy of your letter to the editor of
the San Francisco Examiner.
The newspapers have had a tendency to give a sensational cast to most of what they have written about GIide and have failed to recognize its underlying purpose and mission. I am very happy to have your interpretation and intelligent appraisal of what GIide is trying to do. You will understand, of course, that I have been under tremendous fire because of what is happening at GIide Church and so to receive a letter of commendation such as yours is a heart-warming experience.
