Starting in the 1970’s, advocates started to challenge denominations to declare explicitly that they welcomed LGBT folks. In 1980’s, advocates worked with churches to be open to LGBT folks. This session examines how churches were nurtured by Welcoming Program leaders, parents and other allies emerged, grew and became a vital movement.
