This stole is presented anonymously in honor of all those ELCA pastors, like myself, who are forced to serve in silence. We are denied our full identity and whole personhood in the church yet we are compelled to respond to God’s call to ordained ministry. We are those who cannot not serve. I suspect that our call implies a certain visible presence of the Gospel truth for ALL people.

Originally a part of the collection of stoles housed by ReconcilingWorks (formerly known as Lutherans Concerned), this stole was donated by them to the Shower of Stoles Project in 2015.
