Stole Text

In Memory of Roland A. Hollins

He studied to be a priest but never took his final vows "for obvious reasons."

From his friend Phil Campbell, in memory of Roland, his love of the church, and his commitment to his companion of 25 years.

Contribution Story

This is the first Roman Catholic stole given to the collection.  Phil Campbell donated it on behalf of his friend, Roland Hollins, who passed away on July 21, 2000 at the age of 73.  This satin brocade stole is a piece unique to Catholic and similar traditions that make use of multi-layer "high church" liturgical garb.  It is short (less than 2') and wide, with a cross piece to hold its shape.  It is intended to be worn over an alb or robe and surplice with a wide collar.  Because of its distinct style, it has caught the eye of many Catholics who have viewed displays of the stoles over the years.
