Contribution Story

(Note: A signature stole is one that is covered with the signatures of both gay and straight members of a congregation, denominational governing body, or other organization.  These stoles serve the dual purpose of showing support for LGBT persons, while also protecting their anonymity by including their names as "one among many".)

Old Southhaven is a More Light congregation, working for the full inclusion of LGBT persons into the life and leadership of the Presbyterian Church, and a member congregation of  "Honoring All Voices," a group of churches and individuals within the Presbytery of Long Island which have come together to be a voice of inclusiveness and justice within the denomination.

This stole is unique among the collection's Signature Stoles.  As an act of solidarity, all of the ordained officers of Old Southhaven signed this stole, elders on one panel and deacons on the other -- without identifying who is straight or who is gay.
