REV. JULIE J. KILMER, Ph.D.
United Church of Christ
Eagle, MI
Throughout my ministry, I have been open and honest about being lesbian. In 1994, I was granted in-care status in the Central Southeast Association in the Ohio Conference UCC. In 1997, I was ordained at First Congregational UCC in Huntington, WV.
It is exciting, wonderful, and a blessing to serve as pastor and teacher in UCC churches and colleges. I have served in ministry in the following settings:
Barrington Congregational UCC
Barrington, RI
Winnetka Congregational
Winnetka, IL
First Congregational Church UCC
Grand Ledge, MI
Elmhurst College
Elmhurst, IL
Olivet College
Olivet, MI
My partner, Rev. Cheryl L. Burke, is also an ordained minister in the UCC. Our union service was July 11, 1998 at Barrington Congregational Church UCC in Rhode Island.
Thank God for UCC congregations and colleges that are willing to call “out” lesbian ministers!
Contribution Story
This stole was given in celebration of the United Church of Christ's 50th Anniversary, and for the refuge that the UCC has offered for so many GLBT clergy.
