Title
Frances Thompson
Subject
A published speech honoring a black trans woman, Frances Thompson, who was a survivor of the 1866 Memphis Race Riot.
Description
Frances Thompson testified before Congress that she and five other black women were raped by white men who killed many and destroyed so much on that fated day. Ten years later, when someone discovered she was a trans woman, they used that fact to repair the reputation of the white rapist and to discredit Frances Thompson's congressional testimony.
