The Council on Religion and the Homosexual was formed in 1964 out the of growing awareness on the part of clergymen of the extent to which homosexuals had been shut out of the church and society.
Clergymen, joined with interested homosexuals. heterosexuals, and homophile organizations to embark on an urgently needed
action program aimed at disseminating accurate information about human sexuality.
