Religious Coalition for the Freedom to Marry

Address: Boston, MA

Years Active: 1997–2007

Emerging out of, and buttressing, the non-religious Freedom to Marry Coalition of Massachusetts, the Religious Coalition for the Freedom to Marry (RCFM) brought together “a group of more than 700 clergy, congregations, and organizations from 23 faith traditions”; additionally, its “Declaration of Support” garnered at least 1,000 signatures. For a more in-depth history of the RCFM, in particular its legal context, see this collection page on the History Project’s website.
