After exchanging vows and rings, John C. Fout and Israel seal their covenant with a kiss as Fr. John Darcy Noble and assisting clergy look on. The public blessing of same-sex couples formed the heart of the Church of the Beloved Disciple's ministry, offering LGBTQ Christians a sacramental affirmation of their relationships nearly four decades before marriage equality became the law of the United States.
