Title

Church of the Beloved Disciple at the 1973 New York City Pride March

Description

Fr. Robert Mary Clement leads members of the Church of the Beloved Disciple during the Fourth Annual Christopher Street Liberation Day March and Rally on June 24, 1973. Flanking the processional banner of St. John the Beloved are John Darcy Noble (left) and Leo M. Joseph (right), who carry the banner through the streets of Manhattan. Clothed in liturgical vestments, the congregation offered a striking public witness that LGBTQ people belonged fully within the sacramental life of the Church.
