Silver Chalice and Paten (image of historic use)

Designed by Fr. Leo Joseph, these silver Eucharistic vessels—a chalice and paten—were created for the liturgical use of the Church of the Beloved Disciple and became the congregation's principal Eucharistic vessels. The chalice is decorated with sacred figures and Christian symbols, reflecting the church's synthesis of Eastern and Western liturgical traditions. Bishop Robert Mary Clement used the vessels throughout the 1970s and 1980s. As one of the central liturgical objects of the Church of the Beloved Disciple, the chalice symbolizes the community's understanding of the Eucharist as the living Christ made available to the LGBTQ community.
