This episode of Queer Spirit interviewed Al Cleveland and explored their journey from the Church of the Nazarene to a more queer spiritual home. Al reminded listeners that success isn’t one of the names of God but love is, meaning we are not called to win but to love. We love one another regardless of whether we win or fail.
About
Al Cleveland is a young, queer, non-binary person living here, in Portland, Maine. They are a religious socialist following the Christian mystical tradition. After growing up in the church and leaving the church, they discovered a new spiritual home in community organizing. Al is currently the campaign manager of Maine Youth Justice, a campaign fighting to end youth incarceration and reinvest millions into our communities.
